Tobago Marine Parks Bill 2026 to Be Presented at Special Sitting
Tobago House of Assembly Chief Secretary Farley Augustine is expected to present a “Tobago Marine Parks Bill 2026” as the Assembly Legislature convenes for a special sitting on Thursday.

The Bill is an updated version of legislation debated and passed in 2020 but never enacted, after remaining at the Cabinet level.

Its introduction follows public outcry after the tragic jet ski incident at Pigeon Point Heritage Park on April 8th that claimed the life of seven-year-old Angelica Jogie.

Developed after consultations with Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar and Attorney General John Jeremie, the Bill is expected to provide for the designation of marine parks, regulate activities within protected areas, and introduce measures to safeguard sensitive ecosystems while accommodating regulated commercial activities.
