The Opposition is opposing the delimitation exercise being conducted in the name of women’s reservation, arguing that it would result in an injustice against the southern states of India. However, Prime Minister Modi has made it clear that he will not allow any injustice to befall anyone. Amit Shah has stated that, currently, out of the total 543 seats in the Lok Sabha, the southern states hold 129; following the delimitation, this number will increase to 195.
