Afghanistan, Pakistan War, US offers help, Taliban denies mediation, Trump snubbed again!
In a major revelation on Afghanistan-Pakistan war, the Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid told TOLO News about US’ attempted intervention to stop the war. According to Zabihullah, The Taliban during the conflict with Pakistan, received some contacts from U.S. representatives related to a ceasefire or halting the fighting. However, he added that the conflict did not last long enough to require mediation by major countries. Zabihullah welcomed mediation by Qatar and a few other nations that helped pave the way for a ceasefire and brought the fighting to an end. Mujahid also expressed gratitude to those countries that showed sympathy and support for Afghanistan during this period. Earlier on October 18 President Donald Trump shares his desire to stop war between Afghanistan and Pakistan as he perceived it to be an ‘easier one’. However, Taliban’s outright rejection of US intervention in Afghan-Pakistan fight is viewed as another snub to Donald Trump’s peacemaker ‘fantasies’. The ground fighting b/w Pak-Afghan triggered after Islamabad demanded that Kabul rein in militants targeting Pakistan, saying they operated from havens in Afghanistan. The Taliban denies giving haven to militants to attack Pakistan and accuses the Pakistani military of spreading misinformation about Afghanistan. Kabul also accuses Pakistan of sheltering Islamic State-linked militants to undermine its stability and sovereignty.
