Zelensky Desperate & Confused? Ukraine Blames NATO Nation Amid Drone Crisis As Russia Watches Calmly
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky accused NATO member Hungary of sending reconnaissance drones into Ukraine’s border regions at Russia’s behest. In a September 27 post on X, Zelensky claimed the drones may have been spying on Ukraine’s industrial potential, sparking an immediate war of words between Kyiv and Budapest. Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó dismissed the allegations, saying Zelensky was “losing his mind,” while Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha hit back, branding Hungary a “Kremlin lackey.” Hungary’s defense and interior ministries denied the accusations, insisting ongoing military drills may explain any confusion and pledging to keep NATO allies informed. Meanwhile, a Ukrainian general shared purported drone flight path images showing brief airspace violations from Hungary’s direction. The dispute comes amid escalating drone incidents across Europe: Denmark, Norway, Estonia, Poland, and Romania have all reported violations in September, with NATO launching Eastern Sentry patrols. On September 26, EU countries agreed to create a “drone wall” along their eastern flank to detect and intercept intrusions. Moscow, for its part, has warned NATO against shooting down its aircraft after Donald Trump controversially endorsed such action.
