The Uttar Pradesh Transport Department has announced major relief for vehicle owners by closing all pending non-tax e-challans issued between 2017 and 2021. These challans will now automatically appear under “Disposed – Abated” (court-pending cases) or “Closed – Time-Bar” (office-pending cases) on the transport portal. With this, restrictions related to vehicle fitness, permit renewal, ownership transfer, and HSRP plates will be removed automatically.
Over 30.5 lakh challans were issued in this period, out of which 12.93 lakh were still pending. Now, all such cases will be settled digitally within 30 days, ensuring faster and transparent services. Vehicle owners can log into the e-challan/transport portal to check their challan status after the closure process is completed.
It is important to note that this relief applies only to non-tax challans. Tax-related challans, IPC cases, accidents, and serious violations remain excluded from this decision.
This move will reduce pendency, clear digital records, and ease citizen services. The Transport Commissioner emphasized that the decision reflects the government’s commitment to transparency, efficiency, and citizen-friendly governance.
उत्तर प्रदेश परिवहन विभाग ने वाहन मालिकों को बड़ी राहत दी है. सरकार ने 2017 से 2021 तक बने सभी गैर-टैक्स ई-चालानों को समाप्त करने का फैसला लिया है. अब ये चालान पोर्टल पर “Disposed – Abated” (कोर्ट में लंबित) या “Closed – Time-Bar” (ऑफिस में लंबित और समय-सीमा पार) के रूप में दिखेंगे.
इससे गाड़ी की फिटनेस, परमिट, ट्रांसफर और HSRP प्लेट जैसी सेवाओं पर लगी रोक अपने आप हट जाएगी. कुल 30.52 लाख चालान इस अवधि में बने थे, जिनमें से 12.93 लाख अभी भी पेंडिंग थे. अब सभी का निस्तारण 30 दिनों में डिजिटल तरीके से हो जाएगा. वाहन मालिक पोर्टल पर जाकर चालान की स्थिति चेक कर सकेंगे.
ध्यान दें कि यह राहत सिर्फ गैर-टैक्स चालानों तक सीमित है. टैक्स से जुड़े चालान, गंभीर अपराध, दुर्घटना या IPC मामलों में यह सुविधा लागू नहीं होगी.
सरकार का मानना है कि इस फैसले से पेंडेंसी कम होगी और नागरिकों को पारदर्शी व तेज सेवा मिलेगी.
