NPCI has increased the UPI payment limit, giving huge relief to crores of users. From 15th September 2025, users can now make UPI payments up to ₹10 lakh per day in categories like insurance premium, capital market investment, loan EMIs, government fees, and travel bookings. Earlier, the limit was only ₹2 lakh for insurance and investment, which is now increased to ₹5 lakh per transaction and ₹10 lakh per day. For credit card bill payments, the new limit is ₹5 lakh per transaction and ₹6 lakh per day. Jewelry purchases have a limit of ₹2 lakh per transaction and ₹6 lakh per day. However, person-to-person (P2P) transfers remain unchanged at ₹1 lakh per day, and IPO payments are capped at ₹5 lakh per transaction. With this update, users can pay large insurance premiums, expensive travel tickets, and EMIs in one go, without splitting into multiple transactions. NPCI has clarified that no extra charges will apply, making UPI a more powerful and convenient payment system.
