US soldier charged over prediction market bets tied to Maduro capture
US prosecutors say a US Army Special Forces master sergeant made about 400 thousand dollars by betting on prediction markets using classified information, linked to operations that led to the capture of Venezuela’s President Nicolas Maduro. The Justice Department has charged him with fraud and misuse of confidential government information, in what officials say is the first insider trading case involving a prediction market.
