As Middle East tensions persist, the humanitarian situation has worsened, particularly in Iran, Lebanon, Syria and Palestine. Among the most vulnerable are children – facing displacement, disrupted education and limited access to basic necessities. Across the region, over 1.2 million children have been displaced due to bombardments and evacuation orders, according to UNICEF. That’s why UNICEF is on a mission to advocate for the protection of children’s rights and to help meet their basic needs, especially in dire situations. On this, CGTN’s Tian Wei caught up with Kitty van der Heijden, the UNICEF deputy executive director for partnerships, who’s also the UN Assistant Secretary General.
