Today marks the second day of the special session of Parliament. Vigorous discussions are expected in the Lok Sabha today on three key bills, including the Women’s Reservation Bill. Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi will present his views, while Home Minister Amit Shah will respond to the debate. Voting on the Women’s Reservation Bill is scheduled for 4:00 PM.

In the Rajya Sabha today, the re-election of Harivansh as Deputy Chairman is all but certain. Leader of the House J.P. Nadda will propose Harivansh’s name. The Opposition failed to propose any candidate by the stipulated deadline of 12:00 PM on Thursday. The Chairman will formally announce the name of the Deputy Chairman.

The first phase of the Census—the ‘House Listing Operation’—begins in Delhi today. Census teams will go door-to-door to collect information regarding buildings and households. The entire census process will be digital, allowing individuals to fill in their details online themselves.

A massive fire broke out last night at a luxury resort on Ashwem Beach in Goa. Towering flames could be seen rising into the sky for hours. The Fire Brigade evacuated the surrounding area, and efforts to bring the blaze under control are currently underway. There are no reports of any casualties.

In Kashmir, an alert has been issued for heavy rainfall and storms over the next 24 hours in Srinagar and its surrounding areas. Residents living along the banks of Dal Lake have been warned to remain vigilant. Strong winds last evening blew the roofs off several houses in Srinagar and Pulwama, and tourists present on Dal Lake were safely rescued.
