संसद का विशेष सत्र आज से शुरू होने जा रहा है, इस सत्र में सरकार साल 2029 से पहले लोकसभा और राज्यों की विधानसभाओं में 33 प्रतिशत महिला आरक्षण लागू करने की तैयारी कर रही है. इसके लिए सरकार तीन बड़े बिल पेश करने वाली है. पहला बिल परिसीमन कानून 2026 से जुड़ा है, दूसरा 131वां संविधान संशोधन बिल है और तीसरा दिल्ली, जम्मू-कश्मीर और पुडुचेरी में महिला आरक्षण लागू करने से संबंधित संशोधन बिल है. 131वें संविधान संशोधन के तहत केंद्र सरकार लोकसभा की मौजूदा 543 सीटों को बढ़ाकर अधिकतम 850 तक करने का प्रस्ताव ला रही है. इसमें 815 सीटें राज्यों के लिए और 35 सीटें केंद्र शासित प्रदेशों के लिए होंगी. हालांकि यह अधिकतम सीमा होगी और असल में कितनी सीटें बढ़ेंगी, इसका फैसला परिसीमन आयोग करेगा. इन कुल सीटों में से 33 प्रतिशत सीटें महिलाओं के लिए आरक्षित की जाएंगी.

A special session of Parliament is set to commence today; during this session, the government is preparing to implement a 33 percent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assemblies prior to the year 2029. To this end, the government is poised to introduce three major bills. The first bill pertains to the Delimitation Act of 2026; the second is the 131st Constitutional Amendment Bill; and the third is an amendment bill concerning the implementation of women’s reservation in Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir, and Puducherry. Under the 131st Constitutional Amendment, the Central Government is proposing to increase the current strength of the Lok Sabha from 543 seats to a maximum of 850 seats. Of these, 815 seats would be allocated to the States, while 35 seats would be designated for the Union Territories. However, this represents the upper limit, and the actual number of seats to be added will ultimately be determined by the Delimitation Commission. Out of this total number of seats, 33 percent will be reserved for women.
