Shanghai opens nickel futures and options to global investors
In a significant step toward further opening its financial markets, the Shanghai Futures Exchange has officially made its nickel futures and options accessible to global investors, effective from the April 22, 2026 trading day.

The move was marked by an opening ceremony on the evening of April 21, during which two additional products – TSR 20 and bonded copper options – were listed on the Shanghai International Energy Exchange (INE), a subsidiary of the Shanghai Futures Exchange, and opened to overseas participation.

This expansion broadens international access to China’s commodities market and deepens integration with global trading systems.
