कालीगंज में कांग्रेस पार्टी का दबदबा रहा है और 1996 तक कुल 12 चुनावों में से 9 में जीत हासिल की थी, लेकिन हाल के वर्षों में तृणमूल कांग्रेस का बोलबाला है 2021 विधानसभा और 2025 उपचुनाव में टीएमसी ने जीत हासिल की जबकि बीजेपी दूसरे स्थान पर रही ये कालीगंज में बीजेपी के बढ़ते जनाधार का स्पष्ट संकेत है ! कालीगंज में आप जिधर घूमेंगे हर तरफ आपको दो ही झंडे नजर आएंगे एक ममता दीदी की टीएमसी के दो पत्ती वाले झंडे और दूसरा बीजेपी का कमल। कहा जा रहा है कि यहां अब कांग्रेस का जलवा खत्म हो गया और उसकी जगह तृणमूल ने ले ली है !

The TMC emerged victorious in both the 2021 Assembly elections and the 2025 by-election, while the BJP secured the second position—a clear indication of the BJP’s growing support base in Kaliganj. Whichever way you turn in Kaliganj, you will see only two flags everywhere: the ‘Two Leaves’ flag of Mamata Didi’s TMC, and the ‘Lotus’ symbol of the BJP. It is widely said that the Congress party’s influence here has now faded, and the Trinamool Congress has effectively taken its place.
