Marriage and parenthood: More couples in Singapore avoid having children amid rising costs
Raising children is getting more expensive for some couples – by around 50 per cent – as compared to three years ago. The rise is related to things such as enrichment and tuition classes. Some financial consultants have cited increased spending as possible reasons why more couples are avoiding having children, contributing to Singapore’s record-low Total Fertility Rate.
