Japan overhauls decades-old arms export rules in major policy shift
Japan is lifting restrictions in place since the blanket ban in the 1970s on the export of lethal arms. It now allows – under conditions – the sale of fighter jets, missiles and destroyers overseas, meeting twin goals of growth and defence.
