Israel-Lebanon truce ‘very tentative’, hinges on US-Iran talks, says analyst
A 10-day ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel went into effect on Thursday (Apr 16), but it remains “very tentative”, says Jamsheed Choksy, a professor of Central Eurasian Studies at Indiana University Bloomington. Speaking to CNA’s Asia First, Choksy says past truces have failed, adding that the agreement is effectively between Israel and Hezbollah, not the Lebanese government. He also stresses that United States-Iran negotiations remain the “linchpin” for broader regional stability.
