Delegations from Israel, Hamas, and the United States began landing in Egypt on October 6 for high-stakes talks aimed at ending the nearly two-year Gaza war. The negotiations, set to be held in Sharm el-Sheikh, come close to the second anniversary of Hamas’ October 7 attack that ignited the conflict. US President Donald Trump has pushed negotiators to “move fast,” warning of “massive bloodshed” if a deal fails. His proposal includes a ceasefire, a hostage-prisoner exchange, and a gradual Israeli withdrawal. Hamas, however, has rejected disarmament as a red line.
