Iconic Guaracara Park Set For Major Comeback
After years of neglect, one of South Trinidad’s most iconic sports venues is making a comeback.

Guaracara Park in Marabella is now undergoing major refurbishment works.

The historic venue, nestled within the former Petrotrin Oil Refinery compound, fell into disrepair after the plant’s closure in 2018, robbing southern communities of a beloved sporting and cultural hub.

But work is now underway, spearheaded by the Guaracara Holding Company, covering a new playing strip, outfield grading, pavilion renovations, and plans for a modern electronic scoreboard.

T&T Cricket Board President Azim Bassarath, who visited the site, called the restoration long overdue, noting the ground hosted over 75 First-Class matches between 1960 and 2011 and produced legendary performances from the likes of Phil Simmons, Prince Bartholomew, and Australia’s Stuart McGill.

Bassarath says the TTCB stands ready to assist and is hopeful corporate partners will come on board to help fund the full restoration of this southern landmark.

Thank you for your support in keeping this website running.💛
