Ford government provides largely-redacted documents after FOI request

When the Ford government introduced its controversial changes to Ontario’s freedom of information laws, it promised the vast majority of documents would still be available; including government decisions and anything handled by the civil service.

“Over 95 per cent of information available to the public, including government outcomes and decisions, are still available to the public,” Public and Business Service Delivery Minister Stephen Crawford said.

But as Colin D’Mello reports, when Global News recently asked Ontario’s top civil servant, Secretary of Cabinet Michelle DiEmanuele, for her official notes on the government’s return to office mandate, what was received was 15 pages of redacted notes.
