Henan province, often described as the cradle of Chinese civilisation, is landlocked, with the nearest major port nearly 300km away. That distance has long made exports slower and more costly for manufacturers producing everything from tyres to electric vehicle components and mobile phones. Now, a new pilot programme linking Henan to coastal Shandong aims to change that, streamlining logistics and cutting costs. CNA’s Tan Yew Guan reports.
