Singaporean tourist, residents share scenes of Japan’s 7.7-magnitude quake
A magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck off northern Japan on Monday (Apr 20), triggering tsunami alerts for several coastal areas, with waves of up to 3m forecast.
Videos shared online showed the moment the quake struck, including a Singaporean tourist filming items swaying inside a shop, while train services were halted inside a tunnel after emergency brakes were activated.
Japan’s Meteorological Agency said there is a 1 per cent chance for a mega-quake occurring along the northern Japanese coast within the next week. #japan #japannews #earthquake
