TVK Vs DMK | Whistle Ban In Chepauk Sparks Political Row Between DMK And Vijay’s TVK
A fresh political storm in Tamil Nadu. The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association has issued new guidelines prohibiting whistles, horns and megaphones inside the Chepauk Stadium, a move that has sparked a major controversy. The ban comes days after allegations that whistles were not allowed during a cricket match, triggering protests from Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam or TVK, whose party symbol is a whistle.
TVK leaders have accused the ruling DMK of deliberately targeting their symbol, calling it a politically motivated decision. The DMK and cricket officials deny any political link, saying the guidelines are routine crowd-control measures. The row has now spilled onto the streets, with clashes breaking out between DMK and TVK supporters in Chennai during a party survey, leaving several injured. With the 2026 state elections approaching, the whistle war has quickly turned into a full-blown political confrontation.
