बसपा प्रमुख मायावती ने कहा, “…जब वे(समाजवादी पार्टी) सरकार में रहते हैं तो न उन्हें PDA याद आता है, न कांशीराम जी की जयंती और न ही पुण्यतिथि लेकिन जब वे सत्ता से बाहर हो जाते हैं तो समाजवादी पार्टी को याद आता है कि हमें संगोष्ठी करनी चाहिए। मैं अखिलेश यादव से पूछना चाहती हूं कि यदि कांशीराम जी के प्रति आपका इतना ही आदर सम्मान था तो जब उत्तर प्रदेश में हमारी सरकार थी और हमने अलीगढ़ मंडल में कासगंज नाम से एक जिला बनाया और उस जिले का नाम कांशीराम जी के नाम पर रखा गया था। समाजवादी पार्टी ने सत्ता में आते ही उसका नाम क्यों बदल दिया? हमने कांशीराम जी के नाम पर अनेकों संस्थानों के नाम रखें, अनेक योजनाएं शुरू की जिसे समाजवादी पार्टी ने सत्ता में आते ही बंद कर दिया… यह उनका दोहरा चरित्र नहीं है तो क्या है?”

BSP chief Mayawati said, “…when they (Samajwadi Party) are in the government, they neither remember the PDA, nor Kanshi Ram’s birth anniversary nor his death anniversary, but when they are out of power, the Samajwadi Party remembers that they should hold a seminar. I want to ask Akhilesh Yadav that if you had so much respect for Kanshi Ram, then when we were in power in Uttar Pradesh, we created a district called Kasganj in Aligarh division and that district was named after Kanshi Ram. Why did the Samajwadi Party change its name as soon as it came to power? We named many institutions after Kanshi Ram, started many schemes which the Samajwadi Party stopped as soon as it came to power… If this is not their double standards, then what is it?”
