पश्चिम बंगाल के दुर्गापुर में हुए सनसनीखेज रेप मामले में बंगाल पुलिस ने एक चौंकाने वाला दावा किया है, जिससे केस की पूरी दिशा बदल गई है। पुलिस ने इस मामले में गैंगरेप की घटना से साफ इनकार कर दिया है। आसनसोल-दुर्गापुर पुलिस कमिश्नरेट के अनुसार, ‘तकनीकी साक्ष्यों और पीड़िता के बयान के आधार पर केवल एक आरोपी ने ही उसके साथ बलात्कार किया’। इस बयान ने मामले में कई नए सवाल खड़े कर दिए हैं, जबकि पुलिस ने पीड़िता के एक दोस्त सहित कुल छह लोगों को गिरफ्तार किया है। पुलिस ने यह भी स्पष्ट किया है कि घटनास्थल पर मौजूद अन्य लोगों की भूमिका की जांच की जा रही है। यह मामला 10 अक्टूबर का है, जब एक मेडिकल छात्रा के साथ कथित तौर पर सामूहिक बलात्कार की बात सामने आई थी, जिसके बाद पूरे देश में आक्रोश फैल गया था।
