The United Nations Security Council has approved an exemption from the travel ban for Afghanistan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaki to visit India from October 9 to 16. Security Council resolution 1988 (2011) imposes travel restrictions on certain individuals associated with the Taliban, although the resolution allows the Council to grant exemptions for official duties or medical reasons.
