Railways readies launch of Jammu–Srinagar Vande Bharat service
The Vande Bharat Express, currently running between Katra and Srinagar, will soon originate from Jammu once flood-hit tracks are restored and safety clearances are complete. Railways officials say the extension will improve daily connectivity for commuters, traders, pilgrims, and tourists while cutting travel time. The Jammu-Srinagar line, which includes the Chenab bridge and Anji Khad bridge, is one of the toughest rail projects in the world. While no launch date is confirmed yet, restoration work is progressing quickly.
