ICICI Bank revises minimum balance to Rs 15,000 for metro branches
ICICI Bank has rolled back its steep hike in minimum balance requirements after backlash. From August 1, new savings accounts must maintain Rs 15,000 in metro and urban branches, Rs 7,500 in semi-urban, and Rs 2,500 in rural branches. Earlier, these were raised to Rs 50,000, Rs 25,000, and Rs 10,000. Non-compliance will attract a penalty of 6% of the shortfall or Rs 500, whichever is lower. Salary, pension, student, PMJDY, and select high-balance accounts remain exempt.
