#ZeeBusiness　Drishti IAS पर ₹5 लाख का जुर्माना, UPSC रिजल्ट के झूठे विज्ञापन का खुलासा | CCPA

The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has imposed a fine of ₹5 lakh on Drishti IAS (VDK Eduventures Pvt. Ltd.) for publishing misleading advertisements related to UPSC Civil Services Exam (CSE) 2022 results. Drishti IAS had claimed “216+ selections” in its ad campaign, but investigation revealed that 162 out of these students had only attended the free Interview Guidance Programme (IGP) after clearing Prelims and Mains independently. Only 54 students had enrolled in both IGP and other paid courses.
This concealment misled aspirants and parents into believing that Drishti IAS was responsible for all stages of UPSC success. CCPA noted that this was not the first violation by the institute. In 2021, Drishti IAS was also fined ₹3 lakh for similar false claims of “150+ selections.” Despite being warned, the institute repeated the practice.
So far, CCPA has issued 54 notices to various coaching institutes and levied penalties of over ₹90.6 lakh for misleading advertisements. Students are advised to carefully check the transparency of coaching claims before joining. This action highlights the government’s strict stance against unfair trade practices in the coaching industry.
