Several people have been killed and others injured after an explosion in a bar in the Swiss ski resort of Crans-Montana, police say.

The blast occurred at around 01:30 local time in the Constellation Bar, where New Year’s Eve celebrations were taking place, according to authorities. Unverified social media footage showed a fire at the scene following the explosion.

A helpline has been set up for families of those affected. Crans-Montana is a luxury ski resort in the Swiss Alps, around two hours from the capital Bern.
