WION Russia-Ukraine War LIVE: New Year Celebrations Turn Deadly as Russia Reports Drone Strike in Kherson

Russia has accused Ukraine of carrying out a drone strike on a hotel and café in the Russian-controlled Kherson region where civilians were celebrating the New Year, killing at least 24 people, including a child, and injuring around 50 others.

Russian officials said three drones struck a site in the coastal village of Khorly shortly after midnight, calling it a “deliberate attack” and a “war crime”. Reuters said it could not independently verify the allegations or the images released by Russian authorities.

Ukraine’s military has not yet commented on the accusations.
