France has declared it is ready to defend Gulf Arab states and Jordan if necessary in the wake of Iran’s ongoing missile and drone strikes across West Asia. French Foreign Minister Jean‑Noël Barrot emphasized Paris would support allied nations — including the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Jordan — under threat from Tehran’s actions, citing collective self‑defense obligations under international law.

Paris’ statement follows a crisis meeting in which France condemned Iran’s attacks while reiterating that defensive support would be provided upon request and within international law. Barrot also criticized recent U.S.–Israeli strikes on Iran for lacking United Nations Security Council authorization and urged restraint and diplomacy to prevent further regional escalation.
