Others carry West Nile virus, Japanese encephalitis, and lymphatic filariasis, feeding at dusk and resting in vegetation during the day. Finally, a growing urban vector of Malaria now spreading from South Asia and the Middle East to Africa poses a major emerging threat. Together, these species prove that the world’s most dangerous killers are not predators but mosquitoes.
