When a federal budget in 1979 triggered an election | Throwback
Joe Clark’s short-lived Progressive Conservative government fell on Dec. 13, 1979, after a non-confidence vote on its budget. This year, Prime Minister Mark Carney’s Liberal government is tabling its budget on Nov. 4 and will need the co-operation of at least one other party in order to pass it. If it doesn’t pass, Canadians could be facing another election.
