The Bharatiya Janata Party has upped the ante here by fielding Suvendu Adhikari – the Leader of the Opposition in the state Assembly. He had defeated the chief minister in Nandigram in 2021.

Bhabanipur, however, is a different ball game. Banerjee has held
the seat since 2011, winning it three times, including twice in by-elections.

Her personal residence lies in this constituency. On the ground, voter sentiment appears divided, and with the Chief Minister deciding to contest from here again, many expect a close fight.
