U.S. aircraft carrier arrives at Souda Bay amid Iran tensions
The USS Gerald R Ford aircraft carrier arrived at port in Souda on the Greek island of Crete on Monday. The port is home to a NATO military base – a strategic facility for Greece, the United States and the NATO military alliance in the eastern Mediterranean. On Thursday (February 19), U.S. President Donald Trump gave Tehran a deadline of 10 to 15 days to make a deal to resolve their longstanding nuclear dispute or face what Trump described as “really bad things.” Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Saturday (February 21) that his country would not bow its head to U.S. pressure.
