As part of the ongoing anit-corruption investigation, Ukraine has suspended Justice Minister German Galushchenko. The High Anti-Corruption Court is also considering pre-trial detention for the minister’s advisor Ihor Myroniuk. Ukraine must effectively address these widespread corruption issues in order to progress with its EU membership.

Ukraine has suspended Justice Minister German Galushchenko amid a corruption probe into the energy sector, following the dismantling of a $100 million laundering scheme involving Energoatom executives and former officials. So far, five people have been detained and seven charged, including ex-Minister Oleksiy Chernyshov and businessman Timur Mindich, a former associate of President Zelenskyy.
