T&T And Guyana Strengthen Ties On Trade, Energy And Security
Prime Minister Kamla Persad Bissessar is expected to make an official visit to Guyana in the coming months. This was one of the commitment’s made during a meeting between the Prime Minister and Guyana’s President Mohamed Irfaan Ali on Friday.
Both Heads of Government also agreed on a development, trade, and economic agenda that would see the enhancement of the relationship and greater integration of the people and economies of both countries.
A post on the Prime Minister’s social media said discussions focused on food security and investment, energy integration, technology exchange, human capital development, and improved security.
They also agreed to establish a joint working group, including private sector representatives, to help remove trade barriers and improve competitiveness.
President Ali also thanked Prime Minister Persad Bissessar for Trinidad and Tobago’s support of Guyana’s sovereignty, as both governments committed to continued collaboration to strengthen bilateral relations.
The Prime Minister was joined by Attorney General John Jeremie, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, Sean Sobers, Minister of Public Utilities Barry Padarath, and Minister of Energy and Energy Industries Roodal Moonilal.
