Trump’s Gaza Plan Exposes Netanyahu’s Bonhomie? Hamas Accepts US Peace Plan… But There’s A Catch
U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Hamas is “ready for peace” after the group partially approved his 20-point Gaza peace plan. Following Hamas’ response, Trump ordered Israel to halt its strikes on Gaza and begin implementing the plan’s first phase focused on freeing Israeli hostages. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was reportedly caught off guard and called Hamas’ reply an “effective rejection.” Still, his office confirmed Israel’s readiness to implement the initial stage in coordination with Washington. Hamas, meanwhile, agreed to release hostages but demanded negotiations on the timeline, citing difficulties in locating bodies of the slain. Senior Hamas official Mousa Abu Marzouk reiterated that the group would not disarm until Israel ends its “occupation” and Hamas gets a role in future governance of Gaza, contradicting key clauses in Trump’s proposal.
