US President Donald Trump said in a primetime address to the nation on Wednesday evening that Iran no longer posed a threat to the country. The US and Israel began a campaign of major air strikes against Iran on February 28, and Trump claimed that all “core strategic objectives” were being met in Operation Epic Fury. The conflict has rapidly expanded in the Middle East, killing thousands and wounding hundreds more in Gulf countries. A spokesperson for Iran’s IRGC later said that the claims about the country’s military capabilities were inaccurate, and warned that the US “will only deepen the quagmire in which you have trapped yourselves.”
