TotalEnergies CEO: Strait of Hormuz crisis could damage global economy
The CEO of TotalEnergies has sounded the alarm on a potential global oil crisis stemming from disruptions to the Strait of Hormuz. “If it is more than six months, we’ll have some real impacts. All the economies of the world will be damaged,” said Patrick Pouyanné, chairman and CEO of TotalEnergies, during the China Development Forum 2026.
He noted that while current inventories provide a temporary buffer, the stakes are high and solutions are urgently needed.
