Olympic figure skater Maxim Naumov says the figure skating community has Ilia Malinin’s back. Malinin, considered the gold medal favorite going into the Olympics, had a comfortable lead after the short program before he fell in the free skate and ending the event in eighth place.

“I really just want him to know that we love him and we care about him. His performance and what he did on the ice that day in the free program, it doesn’t define him. In those moments, it’s how you respond. And knowing him, I know he’s going to be OK.”
