Thune raises concerns about workers missing paychecks, Schumer calls SNAP freeze “callous”
On Day 27 of the government shutdown, Senate Majority Leader John Thune focused on federal workers missing paychecks while blaming the Democrats for keeping the government shut down during his speech on the Senate floor. “Democrats don’t want a solution — they want a political issue,” Thune said. Meanwhile, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said the Trump administration’s decision to freeze SNAP benefits is “callous, cynical and entirely unnecessary.”
