‘There’s no data’ in MAHA report, expert says
One of the country’s foremost food policy experts said Tuesday that HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s Make America Healthy Again report is “a report about intentions. It’s not about actions.”
“What you wonder is, how on earth are they going to do these things? What do they plan to do?” Marion Nestle, professor emerita in nutrition and food studies at New York University, told Geoff Bennett on the PBS News Hour. Nestle noted that the latest report includes no data.
“They keep talking about gold standard research. My understanding of gold standard research is these are long-term clinical trials with large numbers of people that take absolutely forever,” she said. “So it’s hard to know how that’s going to happen when the research enterprise has been decimated and so many people have lost their jobs.”
