Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan criticised the film, calling it “poisonous” and alleging that it seeks to damage the secular fabric of the state. He urged that the film be scrutinised with utmost seriousness.

Opposition parties have accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of using the film as political propaganda ahead of elections. The BJP, however, has rejected these allegations and backed the filmmakers.
