Surajkund Mela Tragedy: Ride Removed A Day After Collapse; Inspector Dies Saving Visitors, FIR Filed #NDTV

Inspector Jagdish Prasad, deployed on mela duty, rushed to rescue those trapped on the ride and sustained critical injuries during the operation. He later succumbed while undergoing treatment. By Sunday morning, the damaged ride was removed, fresh carpeting laid, and a new attraction installed.

A committee headed by the Additional Deputy Commissioner has been constituted to probe the incident, and an FIR has been registered against the in-charge of the ride. Haryana DGP Ajay Singhal announced ₹1 crore financial assistance to the inspector’s family and assured support for the injured, who remain under medical care.
