On the 40th day of the conflict in the Middle East, a ceasefire has been reached between Iran and the United States. Approximately one and a half hours before the deadline expired, President Trump announced a two-week ceasefire. Consensus on the two-week truce was reached following an appeal by Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz.

Iran has hailed the ceasefire in the Middle East conflict as a major victory. Claims circulating in Iranian media suggest that the United States acceded to all of Iran’s conditions, marking a monumental triumph.

Despite the ceasefire, Israeli attacks on Lebanon have continued; in response, Iran has fired cluster bombs and missiles at Tel Aviv. Attacks have also been launched against Qatar, the UAE, Bahrain, and Kuwait.

Immediately following the announcement of the ceasefire, crude oil prices witnessed a sharp decline. In the international market, prices dropped by as much as $18 per barrel, bringing the cost of crude oil down to $92 per barrel. Meanwhile, U.S. stock market futures experienced a significant surge.
