In early April, north China’s wetlands come alive. At Wolong Lake in Liaoning Province, over 150,000 migratory birds, including white cranes, Oriental storks and geese, rest on the East Asian-Australasian Flyway. Meanwhile, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region’s Ulan Suhai Lake welcomes mute swans and great crested grebes – over 600,000 birds pass through here during each migration.
