Severe coastal erosion caused by Typhoon Kalmaegi has exposed a centuries-old shipwreck in Vietnam. It provides a narrow opportunity to salvage what experts say could be a historically significant find. The shipwreck was initially discovered in 2023 off the coast of the northern town of Hoi An. However, it disappeared under water before authorities could reclaim it. The rediscovered remnants reveal a heavy, wood-ribbed hull which has survived hundreds of years on rough seas – and is almost perfectly intact.
