Sholdulphel: Millennial echoes at the fingertips
On the southwestern side of the Potala Palace, at its base, stands an ancient architectural complex. It’s known as Sholdulphel, and has for centuries been the palace foundry where generations of highly-skilled artisans have cast statues of the Buddha, ritual implements and other religious objects, along with more mundane, everyday items.

Throughout the long history of the Potala Palace, these artisans have worked without interruption and with unwavering focus, devoting their refined skills to infusing every item they work on, with profound cultural memory.

Today, Sholdulphel is not only a witness to history but also a living example of cultural heritage preservation, where the spirit of craftsmanship rooted in the Potala Palace continues to thrive in the modern era.
