King Charles Bids Farewell to Beloved Royal Train
The King will be bidding the “fondest of farewells” to the royal train following decades of service.
The nine-carriage train is set to stop running in 2027 as King Charles looks to cut costs so funds can be freed up for Buckingham Palace’s refurbishments and the upkeep of other royal residences.
Reports show that the train was used only twice in the last financial year, with the two trips combined costing £78,000.
The Royal Family will instead rely on two new helicopters, as well as regular train services.
