Reuters Denmark’s PM says Trump wanting Greenland ‘should be taken seriously’

Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said U.S. President Donald Trump “should be taken seriously” when he says he wants to acquire Greenland. She reiterated that the Arctic island did not want to be part of the United States and that NATO support hangs in the balance if any attack were to occur.

European powers rallied behind Greenland after the U.S. military operation in which Venezuela’s leader was seized, rekindling concerns that the island, an autonomous Danish territory, might face a similar scenario.
